Now more than ever it seems that Bostonians are putting their trust in David Ortiz.

Boston's Mr. October is still very much on the minds of Red Sox fans in November.

In addition to winning the World Series MVP and Silver Slugger awards, landing a Sports Illustrated cover and acting as closer Koji Uehara's post-game pick-up device, David Ortiz finished third in the city's mayoral vote. Seriously.

Mayor-elect Martin Walsh received 72,514 votes, John Connolly had 67,606 votes and Big Papi -- although it's unclear exactly how many votes he received -- came in after the two, according to the Boston Election Department as reported by WGBH. Most of the 560 write-in votes were cast in favor of the designated hitter filling Thomas Menino's shoes.

Ortiz hit .688 (11-for-16) with two homers and six RBI during his team's World Series victory over the Cardinals in six games.
