Twitter is recruiting Android users to provide feedback for the app's evolving mobile updates, according to a post on the company's Help Center.
Twitter, which started a beta testing program in August for users to sample early versions of the app, announced Friday that it will add a new alpha testing group to the mix, offering some users an even earlier look at what changes are coming down the pipeline.
The program will also give users a chance to 'provide feedback, analysis, suggestions and comments to Twitter... through an online forum,' according to the post.
Twitter's Alpha Program will be filled on a first come, first serve basis, beginning with those who are already part of the Android Experiment Program. It is unclear how many users will be added to the program, or how often these users will receive updated versions of Twitter's Android app. Twitter responded to Mashable's request for comment and confirmed the new group, but did not offer any other details.
The company will now have a chance to get direct consumer feedback regarding app changes before implementing them for all users. This approach was already underway with Twitter's beta testing group, but the Alpha Program will give users a crack at testing the updates at an even earlier stage, meaning more runway for implementing changes and feedback.
Joining the Alpha Group does come with a caveat, however. 'The versions of the app in the Alpha Program contain more and earlier iterations of experiments and, as a result, could be less stable than the releases in the Android Experiment Program,' according to a separate post in the Twitter for Android Experiment Google Group.
